I have been to no less than 3 top class Asian resturants in Dubai, and YU is by far better than these. The hotel has a fantastic Asian/Japanese resturant called YU, managed by a super friendly Freddy. When we arrive, we are warmly greeted by reception and the ever friendly Simon, who always goes out of his way to make us feel at home. I have stayed here no less than 5 times over the past few years, and the exceptional friendly warm service from the staff, the sheer convenience of the hotel location (very close to shops), and the pure luxury of the hotel will keep us coming back, year after year. I stayed in many hotels in Cape Town, but The Onyx will now forever be my "home away from home".

The maids were super efficient and friendly, and my room was spotless every day with fresh toiletries and water every day too. The room itself was lovely, and there was no load shedding at all. He made us feel so comfortable during our stay, so thank you. My colleague also had a late flight home, and Randal ensured he had somewhere to change and rest before going to the airport. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, and we had been on a long flight, so he made sure we had access to shower facilities before we waited. He went above and beyond every day with recommendations, genuine interest in our work, and always calling us by our names - which was a lovely touch given the size of the hotel. A special shout-out to Randal, who I believe was a general manager. I booked a slot to have my laundry done which was collected and dropped off at my room. I don’t think I had to open the front door myself once whilst I was there! There were very rarely any homeless outside, but security dealt with anybody very quickly. The reception and concierge staff were also excellent. A selection of hot food, a buffet and freshly made coffee were all delicious. The breakfast team were always really lovely and happy to help in anyway they could, and the breakfast itself was gorgeous. I’d never been to Cape Town before, but the concierge, reception, and all other employees at this hotel were so helpful with advice and tips. Although I'm a Hilton Diamond member, I won't be staying at this hotel again in the future.I stayed at The Onyx on a work trip with a colleague. I'm really surprised at the attitude of this hotel's staff. Apparently, I was supposed to know that the remote only works if you are pointing it directly at the bottom right-hand corner of the TV. He got annoyed at me and said that I'm not using the remote control correctly. I called the front desk, and they sent their electrician.

After that, my TV remote control wasn't working consistently. When I asked further as to what I should do then, they said that there's shower gel in the shower that I could use. I called the front desk, and they simply said that the hotel was out of hand soap. In my bathroom, there wasn't any hand soap for the sink. Unfortunately, that's kind of where the good stops. The good part of the Onyx is its location, namely its proximity to North Station, Faneuil Hall, and Quincy Market. its about a 25 minute wait." While the poor attempt at humor would normally be appreciated, I just tried to call you multiple times AND I was already hangry. The response "No, but I can put you on a list. Decided to go down to the front desk to request that my car be brought around. Called a total of 4 times with no answer. Day of checkout, I call down to have my car brough over from valet parking. The staff did not seem interested in being of assistance. My daughter made the joke that the owners spent their "per room budget" on the bathrooms alone. The bathroom (while small) was beautiful.

The room had tiniest in room fridge which kept everything about a degree less than room temperature. It is obvious that there is a remodel underway, no issue there, but that is no excuse for the poor amenities. The location is perfect if you are attending an event at the Garden. Let me begin by stating that I am a loyal Hilton customer (#brandloyalty).
